The latter two categories, which arise from a social construct and treat witchcraft as a metaphor, are the focus of this publication.»: Witches: hunted, appropriated, empowered, queered by author and curator Anna Colin combines historical accounts, fictional literature, activist experiences, theoretical propositions and artistic reflections to form a multidisciplinary book on gender, myth and alterity—forty years after the witch returned in a new radical guise in the activist imagination, and at a time when alleged witches are still persecuted in certain parts of the world.

Biografies
Nils Amadeus Lange
born in Cologne, lives in Zurich and works as performer and choreograph. He studied drama at the arts school in Berne (HKB), where he also finished his master of performative studies. Nils worked for the national theaters in Cologne, Heidelberg, Berlin, Basel, Bern and Theater an der Ruhr. His performances have been shown at the Swiss Contemporary Dance Days, Zurich moves!, ZÜRICH TANZT, Venice Biennale, Berliner Festspiele, Les Urbaines Lausanne, Kunsthalle Bern, Theater Spektakel Zürich, „AUAWIRLEBEN“ Festival Bern, Theater Discounter Berlin, Skena up festival Prishtina, Südpol Luzern, Perla Mode Zürich, Tanzhaus Zürich. He has collaborated with Ivo Dimchev, Viviane de Muynck and repeatedly with Annina Machaz and Teresa Vittucci.

Annina Machaz
ist in Zürich geboren und aufgewachsen, nach abgeschlossener Matura hat sie ein Jahr am Schauspielhaus Zürich gearbeitet. Danach erhielt sie ihre Ausbildung an der Hochschule der Künste Bern. Während der Ausbildung wurde sie mit dem Förderpreis Schauspiel von Migros Kulturprozent sowie dem „Best Actors Award“ für die Rolle der Ophelia am International ACT Festival in Bilbao ausgezeichnet. Während des Studiums spielte sie u.a. in der Performance „the Favor“ unter der Leitung von Ivo Dimchev mit, welche u.A zum Festival „AUAWIRLEBEN“ eingeladen wurde. Auch war sie am Kaltstart Festival Hamburg, Skena up Pristhina sowie in der Kunsthalle Zürich mit ihren Arbeiten vertreten. Durch das Masterprojekt ‚Whirlpool’ welches von Francois Chaignaud mentoriert wurde, erlangte sie vermehrt Zugang zum Tanz. Zusammen mit Mira Kandathil und Nils Amadeus Lange gewann sie den Premio-Nachwuchspreis 2014. Ihre Performance „Follow us“ hatte in der Gessnerallee Zürich Premiere und tourte zum Les Urbaines Festival Lausanne, Theatre du Loup Genf, Schlachthaustheater Bern, Theater Roxy Basel und Theaterspektakel Zürich. U.a. spielte sie in der jüngsten Performance ‚Fest’ von und mit Ivo Dimchev mit. Diese hatte am Impulstanzfestival Wien 2013 Premiere. Sie arbeitete am Tanzhaus Zürich und realisierte dieses Jahr gemeinsam mit Nils Amadeus Lange, Florentina Holzinger, Vincent Riebeek und Manuel Scheiwiller das Projekt ‚Jungle’ welches in Koproduktion mit dem Tanzhaus Zürich und dem Arsenic Lausanne entstand.

Maria Metsalu
born in Põlva, Estonia and lives and works in Amsterdam. Maria studied modern dance and dance theatre in Denmark and is now studying choreography at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam.
She performed in works by Poul Heimer Laursen, Maria Alejandra
Peralta, Hisako Horikawa, Vincent Riebeek (Cummunism, 2013; Cam4ultimate, 2014) as well as in World5 by Juan Pablo Camara and Heaven on Earth by Gertjan Franciscus (2014). For her performing art she was awarded with the DanceWEb scholarship 2014 and the Grand Prix in Youth Festival Estonia (2009). As a choreographer she worked on “arty girlz/borderline” in a collaboration with Samira El Agoz (2014); #deathinstructions at Hew Horizons festival Rotterdam (2014), „Makeout4Ultimate“ at Paris Club Silencio (2014)m at Rotterdam Gall. Teresa Vittucci
born in Vienna, graduated from Vienna Conservatory, The Ailey School, Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) and University of Arts Berne, where she studied with Ivo Dimchev, Viviane de Muynck, Franck Chartier, Ralf Samens and others. She received her MA Theater in Scenic Arts Practice, in 2013
and has been making work since 2010. Her solo work knitterfest (2010), watch (2011), unleash (2012) and her newest work LUNCHTIME (premiere at brut and Zürich Moves! March 2015) continues to capture her interest. Collaborations are also fun and include her working for deRothfils, make make produktionen, Staatstheater Mainz, MilchGänse and others, as well as the collaboration with Nils Amadeus Lange for the creation of U BETTA CRY at Tanzhaus Zürich. Teresa has received the danceWEB scholarship at ImpulsTanz 2013 (mentor Ivo Dimchev), the Foreign Study Scholarship of the Austrian Culture Ministry (BKA) and the TURBO Residency together with M. Turinsky and C. Sobottke (mentors Meg Stuart & Miguel Guiterrez) at ImpulsTanz 2014.
Tamer Fahri Özgönenc
ist Komponist und Klanggestalter im Bereich Experimentelles Musiktheater und lebt in Berlin. Er schloss sein Studium mit einem Master of Arts in Sound Studies an der Universität der Künste Berlin, 2011 ab. Özgönenc erhielt Auszeichnungen und nahm an Förderprogrammen durch das Goethe-Institut und ZKM Karlsruhe teil. Ergebnisse von musikalischen Studien wurden bisher in Indien, China und der Türkei präsentiert. Produktionen unter seiner musikalischen Leitung und Mitwirkung wurden u.a. in der Komischen Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Hannover und am Schauspiel Düsseldorf realisiert. Verwurzelt in Köln und Düsseldorf erforscht er darüber hinaus die Schnittstellen von populärer Musik und Computermusik in seiner Band MIT sowie als Produzent und Musiker für DILLON.
Eike Wittrock
ist promovierter Tanzwissenschaftler und Kurator. Als Dramaturg arbeitete er mit Künstlern wie Jeremy Wade, Johannes Müller, Adam Linder und Peaches, und mit Bildenden Künstlern wie Cosima von Bonin, Danh Vo und Willem De Rooij. Gemeinsam mit Anna Wagner hat er das Julius-Hans-Spiegel-Zentrum für Exotismen in der Tanzmoderne gegründet. Nach seiner Promotion zu Arabesken und dem Ornament im Ballett des 19. Jahrhunderts, arbeitet er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter ein einem DFG-Forschungsprojekt zur Tanzfotografie im frühen 20. Jahrhundert. Derzeit ist er künstlerischer Mitarbeiter des Internationalen Sommerfestivals auf Kampnagel, sowie Jury-Mitglied der Tanzplattform Deutschland 2016.
