Думи мої - Dumy Moyi

François Chaignaud

«This work is intended to be a cure. A release from Western theatre rituals with their frontality, their strict temporality and their relationship with power. I will therefore perform in a small, closed room, without stage or set. We will all be sitting side by side and we will only be a few. In this intimate closeness, I offer you a variety of delicacies and scandalous acts. It’ll be like the Theyyam dances in Malabar, where dancers in wondrous, monumental costumes turn into gods who, as a result, are brought closer to the men and women taking part.»
François Chaignaud

François Chaignaud, darling of Zurich’s performance fans and one of the stars at the shows «(M)imosa», «Twerk» and «Sylphides», presents an enchanting solo performance to start the new season. A small group encounters a mythical creature that is incredibly beautiful and that mesmerizes with its movements and chants. Driven by the rhythms of Ukrainian, Philippine and Sephardic music, a multilingual recital emerges. It is dominated by a costume sculpture by Romain Brau – a mixture of dancing, singing and ….drinking.
