AFTER LIFE
«After Life» is the second duet in a trilogy by choreographer and dancer Simone Aughterlony, which examines the biography of a body through its existential states: its present by flesh and blood, post mortem and with regard to an (im)possible future.
It concerns our thoughts and musings on a possible afterlife. The soul resides in the body. Where else should it live? Is it possible to render the human body in a process of permanent transformation, composition and decomposition, and to provide it with an unlimited future? In the stasis of infinity, the body is no longer bound by time, but is like an animated waiting room. In this nonspace, ghost bodies and other scary figures appear. We hear music – soul music, of course – and the identities here at this timeless place are even vaster and more polymorphous than in the horror stories that they tell of the living.
