maneuvers / groove space
As urban dwellers we are moving in a continuous choreography which reaches far beyond an imagined and planned order. Interactions based on eye contact and actions generate new configurations which, in turn, modify the entire surrounding space and which can be incomprehensibly complex. Based on the dynamic organisational structure of urban spaces, how can choreography and participation be thought of in new ways? Which kind of performative gatherings can we create together and how can the audience support the choreography without becoming performers themselves?
In maneuvers / groove space, the second part of the 3-year research and performance series groove space, the Berlin based dance team around Sebastian Matthias meets the Swiss performance artist Nino Baumgartner. With his practice of tactical performance events (maneuver) space becomes a process of constant crossing and changing. In this space, with his live implemented composition, Paul Norman questions the production and support of contentment.
How do maneuver and dance respectively link to the urban groove they encounter in the series’ stopover in Zurich?
