A choreographic essay on dancer‘s ecology within its natural biotope Here’s a zebra herd in the Serengeti savannah. And over there are 20 professional and unprofessional dancers romping about on a dance mat. Two different ecosystems are being eyed through the same lens. «Les animaux» explores the environment, the territory and the performer. We’ll simply suppose that the stage is the dancer’s biotope – not without humour, of course. YoungSoon Cho Jaquet invites eight professional and non-professional dancers to share the dancefloor for a big, physical choreography. Somewhere between the revelation of fundamental
instinct, mob mentality and visual effects, the evening investigates the possibilities of the pure being-onstage, like a vivarium. Just as a spectator of an animal documentary would, the audience will witness the ambiguous and fascinating behaviour of an interesting species whose habitat is the black box. Spring is coming...
