Walking
In «Walking», Gregory Stauffer turns to hiking. Alpine hikes as well as urban strolls have been the source of inspiration for the works of the young Geneva based artist who works on the intersection between video, visual art and performance. Now he turns his source of inspiration into his topic. With humorous gesture he searches for the mechanism transforming body and spirit during a hike. According to the environmentalist and essayist Rebecca Solnit who has written about walking, landscape, spirit and body merge to a musical accord. Gregory Stauffer does not need an elaborate set design, nor does he need canned music, he focuses on a few props and costumes only. Everything is reduced to the essence of hiking: the ground, the feet and the delicate sounds in our head.
