holding it together

Jessica Huber & Kollaborateure

with Jessica Huber mit G. Chollet, W. De Busser, K. Kähler, M. Kleinschnittger, L. Kropf, S. Lenski, R. Steijn, N. Willimann

«Holding it together» is a series of collaborations and performances at the source of which stands the desire for a practice and an aesthetics of exchange. It is in this spirit that Jessica Huber has invited artists to collaborate with her in varying constellations over the past three years. This is how a collection of ideas, beginnings of movements and the (Sharing Rituals) format has come together which focuses on the thematic parenthesis called «holding it together» as well as on the four topics entitled «The Thing», «The Mass», «Myself» und «Myself & The Other(s)».
The works have been inspired by the works of the Tiller Girls, royal animals, trance rituals, case studies and Virginia Woolf’s prophecy «The future is dark, which is the best thing the future can be, I think.».

Things can appear out of the dark or they can change; darkness liberates and renews. At the same time differences and definitions cease to be definite. Darkness as a symbol for the unknown and the uncertain is a central thought in the wwork process of «holding it together» – as well as the questions about how we perceive the world and how we enter into a relation with our environment.
