Cuando vuelva a casa voy a ser otro
in spanish language with german supertitles
The latest piece by the internationally acclaimed Argentinian theatre and film director Mariano Pensotti starts with a real event: in the late 1970’s a revolutionary buries a series of objects in the garden of his parents’ house, objects which in the case of a military razzia would have been incriminating. In the mid 1980’s, after the end of the dictatorship, he tries to find these objects. Although he spends several days ploughing through the yard he cannot find them – and he cannot remember the exact place where he hid them.
In 2014 he suddenly receives a phone call from the new owner of his parents’ house, who, while constructing a new pool, found the buried material. 40 years after the act the former militant is brought face to face with these mythical objects from his past – just like a time capsule, they confront him with someone he had been, but has left behind long ago. And then there is one object which he mysteriously cannot remember putting there. In this kaleidoscope of memories and imagination, Pensotti, like an archeologist, reconstructs an effaced life from the remnants of a different time. In a journey through several generations characters appear and vanish like objects – and we happily lose ourselves in a labyrinth of personal stories.
