Exit

Kris Verdonck & Alix Eynaudi

To be or not to be, (…)
To die, to sleep, no more (…)
To sleep! Perchance to dream (…)

William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Act III, Scene I

We demand a «Right to be lazy»! Claimed in 1880 by Karl Marx’ son in law Paul Lafargue, repeatedly quoted the right to be lazy is a source of inspiration for many philosophical theories, but it might take another while until this right is actually going to make into our constitution. Should you desire to escape for an hour from being awake for work, production and consumption you have come to the right place. In «Exit», the Belgian theatre artist Kris Verdonck, the dancer and choreographer Alix Eynaudi and the musician Rutger Zuydervelt from «Machinefabriek» explore the value of relaxation, quiet time, peace, sleep and laziness in our society. Skillfully they guide the perceptions of the audience with the help of lighting, sound, movement, language and space.

A performance that is like a beneficial rest cure!

There will be pillows and comfortable places to sit!
