Freiheit

Patrick Frank

In Western culture freedom means something like this: proselytise for yourself and present your qualities to the public! Participate in the inevitable quantitative evaluation of your qualities. High ratings? A million clicks? Or has your quality been able to produce any other quantities? Money? Yes? AWESOME, SO YOU REALLY MADE IT! (What Weber, Marx, Nietzsche and whoever else criticised about rationalisation is pretty harmless compared to today’s total quantification of the subject.)
«Freiheit – die eutopische Gesellschaft» is a musical/theatrical/theoretical «Kritik der Freiheit» in two acts, conceptualised and curated by Patrick Frank. The first act, Freiheit als Utopie (freedom as utopia) assumes that freedom has been fought for since it was still a utopia and not yet a reality.
The second act, Freiheit in Eutopie (freedom in eutopia), illustrates the illusion of the realization of freedom.

This spectacle/fair of freedom offers compositions and performances by Patrick Frank, Martin Schüttler and Trond Reinholdtsen as well as talks by Slavoj Žižek (philosopher) and Lukas Bärfuss (author), moreover it offers a walkable interactive installation with continuous quantifications of this and various other proofs of freedom.
