Planet School
School is a capricious place where things happen simultaneously. Different people come together, do and experience the most different things. Sometimes it’s boring, sometimes inspiring. Sometimes emancipating, at other times, not in the least. Some fall in love, others smoke. It’s about discipline and disciplining, about rhythm and learning goals. But also about friendship, love, jealousy, fear, and time management and constantly about the so-called future and how pupils should be forearmed to deal with it as well as possible. School is an experience that we all share and it is one of our first experiences of the group and of society.
Planet School is the result of an extraordinary cooperation between the Theater der Peinlichkeit [Theater of Embarrassment] and the directors of the theater of the Kantonsschule Zürich Nord [KZN]. Together with pupils, school staff, and teachers, the everyday life of school is probed and put into question as a cosmos of dependencies and visions. Planet School can be experienced as an immersive, site-specific walk created and performed by the pupils throughout the KZN building.
