After several years of working as a solo artist, Swiss choreographer Eugénie Rebetez has opened her creative process to new inspiration and invited two partners on stage: musician Pascal Lopinat and performer Victor Poltier. Nous trois [We Three] focuses on three characters who have formed a family together. The piece investigates the relationship dynamics of people who are connected for better or worse. What defines a family? What is it that makes it even possible for people to live together and share intimacy? How does each person take on his or her role? What do you give? And what do you get?
The three characters move about in a cocoon-like levity in which emotions can be fierce, incisive, and unpleasant. No one really has control over the situation and nobody rules over anybody else except for maybe a brief moment or by chance. The small family becomes a metaphor for how everyone takes on a role in order to be able to inhabit space for the duration of a story.
