Das Glück des Nein-Sagens / Reclaim postmodernity!
Das Glück des Ja-Sagens [The Bliss of Saying Yes] is a trilogy based on Nietzsche’s affirmative philosophy, which provided an important impulse for postmodernist theorists. One could even argue that Nietzsche supplied the theoretical foundation of postmodernism. The pluralistic perspective, which neither negates nor excludes the Other, but rather includes as the Other, is based on the affirmation of life (beyond the hereafter!), on play or the game, and on chance. Assuming this perspective, in Part I – Menschwerdung [Incarnation] – Patrick Frank and the Ensemble Tzara together with composer Trond Reinholdtsen and performer Malte Scholz were in an urban forest; in Part II – Affirmationen [Affirmations] – in an apartment; and, for the final piece, in (for now, who knows?) – Das Glück des Ja-Sagens [The Bliss of Saying Yes] – in the Gessnerallee. The three parts represent contexts in which they are active: nature (Part I), the private sphere (Part II), and the public sphere (Part III).
«The fact that saying no engenders bliss is evident enough in politics: compared to those who say yes, no-sayers have the advantage of clarity and it’s easier for them to unite forces and initiate powerful movements. We say NO on this evening because we want to follow the trail of the bliss of saying yes as a social utopia. Reclaim postmodernity!»
