Ja, Panik
There is probably no newspaper in the German speaking world that hasn't already reported in some way or the other about Ja, Panik in their culture section. In Germany and Austria, the Burgenland based band around singer-songwriter Andreas Spechtl is already on everyone's lips. In Switzerland he is still an insider's tip. We're about to change this with their premiere in Zurich. Ja, Panik master the sentimental rapture of the Rolling Stones as well as they can do the rough staccato of Velvet Underground or the rustic punk rock of Ton Steine Scherben. Their music is almost bony, always breathless, exorbitantly unfinished. The words naturally shift between English and German and Andreas Spechtl can sing like Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop.
Initially, Ja, Panik intended to play only at a few festivals during this summer and autumn, and then go back to the studio. Gessnerallee's season start, however, is an exception: finally Zurich's audience can see this band rock.
