«MENSCH!» is what author and performer Beatrice Fleischlin and director Jonas Knecht call their common pondering over the existential in the competitive society. «mein herz ist ein dealer» is the second project emerging from this collaboration. Fleischlin and Knecht are sending two characters on stage that find out about their egocentrism. Just like a camera in an animal film follows each stir of the tiger lying in wait they zoom into the movements of their protagonists: disdain, ignorance, flashing tenderness and aggression, despair and devotion. In «mein herz ist ein dealer» they explore the difference between defending one’s territory and declaring one’s love. Yet, this won’t go through without creating a huge mess.
Beatrice Fleischlin’s textual and stage works have consistently been in search of a contemporary theatre language. As a performer she moves on the junction between reality and fiction and in an irritatingly intimate way tries to get to the bottom of questions of identity and existence. Her texts might be adrift from a philosophical circus.
The works of director Jonas Knecht are characterised by his love of experimenting with theatrical tools. The unique (in a good sense) combination of straight theatre, sound and music build the centrepiece of his work. He creates independent productions situated between installation and theatre, scenic concert and live audio drama, and he also creates musical works with puppets and humans at municipal theatres.
