House
Homogenized through their apparent nudity, ten men and women shake, shudder and tick in unison to an unwavering techno beat. Through the haze of white and green lights, they bend themselves backwards, twist forwards, drift as individuals driven by some irresistible force and return to their group as if on command. Welcome to the world of House, by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar. Eyal showcases her exceptional talent as a ballerina: lewd, seductive, a far cry from the usual clichés. As a choreographer, she demonstrates what she’s capable of: mathematical precision that is nevertheless shaped by her dancers’ personalities. L¬E¬V – Hebrew for «heart» – is the name of Eyal and Behar’s recently founded dance company in Tel Aviv.
Corps de Walk, Eyal’s work for the contemporary Norwegian Company Carte Blanche, was one of the most innovative highlights at the 2012 Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival Steps.
