Gilgamesh Must Die!

The bianca Story

The bianca Story is back! With «M & The Acid Monks» the band and the directing team around Daniel Pfluger already showed us what concert theatre can be: a virtuosic mixture of concert, music theatre, straight theatre and performance. Their new album «Digger» sets a musical benchmark – and both things come together in their new project «Gilgamesh Must Die!».

With this concert experience, first performed at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, they now stage the oldest history of humankind: one third human, two thirds god, Gilgamesh, Mesopotamian king and totalitarian egomaniac, knows no limits – until his best friend Enkidu dies a slow and agonizing death before his eyes. Driven by restless fear, the quest for immortality becomes Gilgamesh’s new purpose in life. He will find it, but not in the way he had imagined.

Gilgamesh’s journey from a despot to a guardian of his homeland Uruk is described on eleven stone tablets. Based on the eleven tablets and following their new album «Digger», The bianca Story turn their songs into the leitmotiv of the story, follow the Epic and overwrite it. Together with young non-professional performers and a singer they create a wild and passionate journey into the abyss of basic human fears.
