Death Asshole Rave Video

Jeremy Wade

With «Death Asshole Rave Video» the Berlin based choreographer Jeremy Wade created a furious one-man-show, half performance, half concert. With a machinery of movement, sound and words he questions death itself and our societal relationship with it. Might the end be a new beginning? Jeremy Wade uses the metaphor of death in order to wake us up and try and grasp the reality in which we are living, asking questions about the alleged extinction of our Western societies: the decline in values, the breaking up of social agreements, the destruction of the environment. The performance text was elaborated together with Ezra Green and describes death as a medium of transformation through which crises can be overcome and values can be tested. A brutally funny and hopelessly sad evening.

The American dancer and choreographer lives in Berlin. In 2000 he graduated from the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. In February 2006 his very first production «Glory» premiered at the Dance Theater Workshop in New York. The piece was awarded the New York Bessie Award. In 2013 he created the piece «Dark Material» in collaboration with the Berlin sculptor Monika Grzymala and the Californian experimental musician Jamie Stewart aka Xiu Xiu. His work «Fountain» was shown at the festival Zurich Moves in 2015.

Performance in English. No entry under 18 years.
