Felahikum
/ (France, Spain, Germany)
In Felahikum, two extraordinary women confront each other: soloists with overwhelming presence, who dance to perfection, but could not be any more different. On the one hand, there is Honji Wang, mainly influenced by ballet and hip-hop, who quietly, nimbly and flexibly darts across the stage. On the other hand, there is Rocío Molina, with a background in dominant and highly flammable flamenco. The manner in which, face to face, the two of them approach each other with great respect and dare to come out of their shells, abandoning their habitual patterns of movement, is a form of sensuous diplomacy. Each one tries to feel their way into the other one's cosmos. The sizzling tension generated by this tightrope walk can be felt quite tangibly. Staged in a manner that is stylishly reduced to the essentials and musically underpinned with jazzy notes, what transpires is entirely focused on these two female characters. This production, created in collaboration with Sébastien Ramirez, represents nothing less than dance's answer to the question of how the major instances of incomprehension in today's world could be dealt with. Or, on an interpersonal level: how we can find ourselves in the differentness of others. This encounter is a sensation.
