The Canadian choreographer Dave St-Pierre loves to confront the audience. With his new work he shows the third part of his trilogy which started off with «La pornographie des âmes» (Bare Naked Souls) and «Un peu de tendresse, bordel de merde!» (Give a Little Tenderness, for Crying Out Loud!) and which was a great success. His works are consistent and without compromises.
They are about life, love, hatred, joy and suffering. His images are revolting, distressing and fascinating at the same time. In his minimalist stage design that has very few props but over 20 dancers, Dave St-Pierre draws an emotional game of antagonisms in his new piece. He pushes his dancers – who are provocatively nude for the most time – into extremes that lie beyond their threshold of pain, sheer power makes the audience experience the immediacy of the bodies. And it becomes quite clear: Life is too short to make compromises. Beyond conventions and dogmas, this highly talented Canadian is holding up a mirror to us.
